Fogli d'ombra
Spoken Word Poetry EP
Fogli d’ombra is the debut spoken word album by Italian artist and performer Anna Utopia Giordano, who has been active in the poetic field for many years. The three performances of spoken word and music, conceived by the author as hybrids between poetry and screenplay, encapsulate suggestions drawn from philosophy, literature, and science, interweaving contemporary themes with classical imagery.
Three musicians, selected by the author, have crafted the sonic architecture upon which the three texts rest: Giuseppe Fiori (14 e 15), Leonardo Barilaro (Pattern) e Un Artista Minimalista (Entelechia (o sul senso del dovere)). Utopia oversaw the production and artistic direction with the consulting and technical support of Massimo De Feo for mixing and mastering.
The first music video from the album is Entelechia (o sul senso del dovere),which draws inspiration from the tradition of son et lumière night shows. The video's concept was developed and devised by Anna Utopia Giordano and Carlo Alleva, an Italian designer and director who was entrusted with directing and designing Entelechia. In addition to appearing in the video with both her body and voice, Utopia also credits the production and creative direction.
Entelechia has participated in national and international festivals including Venice Film Week 2022 (Venice, Italy), where it was awarded in the Best Music Video category, the poetic festival OttobreInPoesia with a screening at the Archaeological Museum of Torralba (Torralba, Italy), Bologna In Lettere (where it was mentioned in the section dedicated to video poetry). Entelechia took part in the Magmart XIII edition (screened on June 9, 2023 at the CAM Museum in Casoria (Italy), where it is part of the permanent collection; and screened on July 5, 2023 as part of the Fonland Festival Internacional de Vídeo Arte e Performance at Casa da Esquina (Coimbra, Portugal)).Additionally, it was in the official selection of Athens Digital Art Festival 2021 (Greece), Light Matter Film Festival 2023 (Alfred University, New York, USA),13th Hong Kong Arthouse Film Festival at Hong Kong Arts Centre (China), 10th International Video Poetry Festival (Greece), The Wrong Biennale N.5 - Essence/Absence Pavillon #10 - Second Wave (NewArt City), Interface Video Art Festival 2021 (Croatia), Brussels Independent Film Festival 2022, The Rabbit Holes (Belgium), ISAF Festival 2021 (Russia) where it received an honorable mention, 8th Goa Short Film Festival (India), LifeArt Festival 2021 (India).
